This is a map from ArcMap showing the social vulnerability of people to hazards in the United States.  Social vulnerability takes the exposure to potential hazards, as well as age, low income, disabilities and other factors into consideration.

This is a map from ArcMap showing the current hazards going on in the world.

These images are from a lab we did in class on mass wastage.  The images show the areas of the country that are prone to mass wastage.  As you an see mass wastage is more likely to take place in mountainous regions (Rocky and Appalachian), and around faults, which is the case in California.

This is a very cool image that I found online showing a hurricane traveling over an ocean.

This is another image that I found fascination.  It shows a funnel cloud over water, which reminded me of an experience from my childhood.  A tornado formed over our lake and picked our speedboat out of the boat lift and threw it onto our dock.  Our fishing boat was flipped over, but the paddle boat was left untouched.

This is an interesting map that I found online that shows earthquake activity and the location of nuclear power plants.  One alarming trend that can be seen on the map is the high amount of activity around Japan and the nuclear plants that are located there.  Almost everyone is familiar with the nuclear problems that Japan faced after the earthquakes and tsunami that struck the country.

After reviewing the map about earthquakes and nuclear power plants, I thought I would include some footage of the disaster in Japan.  This video shows fascinating, but scary footage showing water coming into a town and people running to escape it.
